Injuries and Illness Facts
- In 2002 the CDC.Gov reported that 5,524
occupational fatalities occurred and there were 4.7
million new non-fatal injuries and illnesses reported in private
industry.
- US Department of Health and Human Services National
Institute of Occupational Safety and Health reported information
from private companies stating that most injuries were sprains,
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and back injures.
- Lifting crates, nursing homes, and heavy boxes were the
cause of many injuries.

cause of many injuries as well.
- For injuries off the job, which resulted in loss time, it
was reported 705,800 cases resulted from over exertion or

weight lifting exercise has promoted good health and prevented
illness and injuries.
